Why, hello there! I see that you’ve stumbled onto the very beginning of my Marvel reading/blogging journey. Here, I’ll be posting my thoughts on the various Marvel content that I read.
As you’ve probably already guessed, I’m a bit of a comic book fan. I have quite a few comics in various formats such as singles, trades and omnibuses. I’ve been collecting for quite a while now and my library consists of Marvel, DC, Archie, Darkhorse as well as some lesser known publishers.
Like Chris Reads the DC Universe, I’ll be attempting to read my Marvel content from a specific starting point in the publication timeline. Occasionally, I may be straying off course with a smattering of books from different points in time, but I’ll do my best to do this as little as possible. I’m more concerned with ruining my own reading enjoyment by reading ahead and causing spoilers for myself. In a world of interwebs and Wikipedia, I can still find myself thrown for a loop and wish to savour those moments when I can.
The book that I’ve selected to start with is Marvel’s Fantastic Four Epic Collection Vol. 1: The World’s Greatest Comic Magazine, a trade paperback release featuring the very first Fantastic Four stories. I actually sometimes prefer these smaller trades over the chunkier Omnibus format. This book effectively started it all for Marvel and I feel like it’s a great place to begin!
